What is Chiropractic?

The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.

A healthy nervous system supports every tissue in your body. Through traditional chiropractic spinal and extremity adjusting we can support a healthy nervous system which emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.

Your First Visit

Please plan approximately 60 minutes for your initial visit to our office.

A. What to Bring:

  1. Your insurance card (if applicable)
  2. Any diagnostic imaging studies (we prefer to see the actual pictures, rather than just the report)
  3. A referral (if required by your insurance company)

B. The Visit: there are essentially 6 components to the visit.

  1. Registration - you may download our registration form in order to save some time in the office.
  2. Discussion - After you complete the initial registration process, we will begin to discuss your health concerns and past medical history. Some of this information may be submitted before your initial consultation by completing the on-line neck pain and / or back pain history forms.
  3. Physical examination - The examination has two primary components:
    • neurological and orthopedic examinations to determine a clinical diagnosis
    • assessment of your posture, muscle function, flexibility and spinal joint function. If diagnostic imaging is indicated, you will be referred to a local facility for the study.
  4. Treatment Planning - The details of your diagnosis will be presented and discussed.
  5. Treatment - Treatments in our office may include stretches, exercises, therapy modalities (electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound), soft tissue relaxation techniques and spinal manipulation/adjustments (See Treatments and Techniques).
